Over the years, Bayern Munich have shown an affinity for German talents with Leroy Sane the latest one.
Offers were made with the most recent one in the summer but their interest in him fizzled out after his knee injury in August.
However, in the last few weeks, news has resurfaced that the Germans look set to go in for their man and were reported to have agreed on a 5-year contract with Sane.
Recently, Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer came out to confirm the club’s interest and has not held back praises on the 24-year-old.
Speaking to BR via Bein Sports, Hainer said: “Leroy Sane is a good player that every team would like to have.
“It has been known for a year now that we have been interested. He is still under contract with Man City. We have to see how things develop.”
This news is of no surprise as Sane, a left-footed winger known for his speed, trickery and incisiveness, would be the Robben replacement that the Bavarians crave.
The ex-Schalke winger would fit perfectly on the left wing of Bayern’s famous 4-3-3 formation, partnering with his compatriot; Serge Gnabry.
Their partnership could be a long-lasting and fruitful one for both club and country in the years to come as they have the prime years of their careers ahead of them.
The Germans are both versatile wingers capable of executing Bayern Munich’s style of swift, deadly wing play and can adequately feed world-class striker, Robert Lewandowski, who according to Goal, revealed that he would be eager to link up with a player like Sane.
Sane is also experienced in the Bundesliga, having made over 40 appearances in two seasons with Schalke 04 before his £37 million switch to Manchester City in 2016.
He has won the Premier League on two occasions, the FA Cup, two Carabao Cups, two Community Shields and was voted PFA Young Player of the Year in 2018.
